How to choose a course that fits your next step

Compare the work you want to do, the units you will study, and the practical requirements before choosing a qualification.

Start with the work

A course title is only the starting point. Look at the career outcomes and further-study pathways on each course page, then compare them with the work you want to do after graduation.

MPC lists construction trades, building and construction, and business qualifications. A trade course focuses on a defined set of practical tasks, while a diploma may place more emphasis on planning, management, and decisions at work.

Read the units, not only the overview

The units show the actual skills that make up a qualification. Check the core units, the proposed electives, and any prerequisites. Ask Admissions for the current training plan if a particular skill or specialisation matters to you.

Check the practical details

Compare duration, entry requirements, delivery and assessment methods, campus location, current fees, and intake dates. For trade courses, ask whether construction induction, equipment, site access, or a physical task is part of your study plan.
